It is acknowledged that the forthcoming year is predicted to be disrupted at some stage, due to the ongoing pandemic and that several weeks were lost from the 2019-20 season.
To reflect this the Membership Fee will be reduced for the 2020-21 season to:-

The cost of running the club has risen as a result of pandemic and the increased use of cards. This cost has been reflected in the increse in Rink fees, to:-
Rink Fee 2020-21 £4.00 Non-members £6.50 (for non club organised play only)

I'm pleased to announce that we now have a Sponsor for the Clarrie 2021 OSC tournament, a generous member has offered to put up the Champion's prize money.
The guidelines regarding the wearing of Face Coverings or Masks, in the bowls hall area remains unchanged. It is recommended that you wear coverings to enable social distancing down to a metre. If you are not able to wear a face covering then social distancing should be kept to 2 metres or more.

From now on the FOURS leagues will have to be played as TRIPLES for us to satisfy this latest change.
The leagues will revert back to fours as soon as the regulations are relaxed.
A knock-on affect of the above is that the EIBA have decided to cancel the 2020-21 national competitions.
The 2019-20 finals are now being planned for April 2021.
From the 24th Sept the bar will be TABLE SERVICE only, players will be requested to sit in the bar area, before and after their matches (in the Arrivals and Departures Sections) as before. But instead of coming to the bar, we will come to your table.
The government states that the 'rule of six' applies in this environment. Please reduce your MINGLING to comply.
Regarding FACE COVERING the Gov't requirements are:
'Staff in hospitality venues must now wear masks, as must customers when not seated at their table to eat or drink.'
In addition the bar will now close at 10pm.
It is always difficult to find the middle ground. The setting of the heating of the building has been problematic over the years that I’ve run the club.
Some players feel the heat and others feel the cold, when I think I’ve found the optimum then the outside air temperature suddenly changes and it’s thrown into disarray.
This winter we have the added complication of Covid 19, in that the club has to provide addition ventilation and also to adequately heat the building as the virus is also known to thrive in the cold.
Over recent weeks I have been seeking the middle ground within the constraints of the building, to enable good air flow and heat retention. Concluding with the following:-
In the rink area, the outside exit doors will be held ajar to allow fresh air to enter, the overhead fans move the air (positioned to not blow on the players), the outside 2 of 3 extraction fans behind the seating area suck air from that end and the third extractor is reversed to gently blow air fresh over the central seating area.
In the lounge the two outside exit doors are also held ajar to allow fresh air to enter, the end of rink extractors remove stale air via slots in the partition wall, the kitchen extractor also moves and evacuates the air.
For obvious reasons as the winter gets colder, the level of heating will be the aspect that cannot be guaranteed as the ventilation as described above will take priority and not be impaired.
Please be prepared to bring a second layer on those cold days.
